Big Bench #163
The province of Pavia is also a part of the Chris Bangle’s creative project, with several benches in different locations in the area. They include the red Big Bench #163, with views over woodlands and vineyards.
The position of this bench has earned it the nickname “Butterfly” [Farfalla], since it overlooks a vineyard that looks something like a butterfly’s open wings. But it is not just the deep colour and the fascinating history of the name that makes this such an interesting Big Bench.
It is very easy to get to, thanks to a car park just a few dozen metres away, allowing even older people and those with reduced mobility to enjoy unique panoramic views without any strenuous hiking. It is also possible to visit Casteggio beforehand, a charming Roman village, just 5 km away, before getting to the Big Bench to enjoy the scenery from above.
The location close to a village and at the same time, plunged in the regenerating tranquillity of nature, makes Big Bench #163 an obligatory stopping point when coming via Pavia.
